Recurring event see all

May 16, 2025 @ 8:00 am 10:00 am

Hear the whistle of the steam, smell the coal in the air, feel the rhythm of the click and clack as the train leaves the platform heading down the tracks. Anticipation is in the air as Keppel Street awakens and the Railway comes to life with the hustle and bustle of people. On 4 April 1876, Bathurst Railway station was opened with fanfare and ceremony, and the Great Western Railway arrived in town. What would the railway bring? How did the railway make its mark on Keppel Street? Light refreshments provided at the end of the walk in Machattie Park.

Cost: Adult $25; Concession $20; Under 16 yrs free – bookings essential
Location: Meet at the Bathurst Railway Station, corner of Havannah and Keppel Streets
