Inland Sea of Sound – Gordi + Support

Liberation Records are proud to present Inhuman, the latest body of work from Gordi – aka Sophie Payten. Written across years and continents, taking different forms and given new meaning through the transformation of the pandemic, Inhuman is Gordi’s necessary relief to the shifts felt over the past few years
Payten says: “The level of suffering these past years has been too overwhelming and paralysing. But to ignore it is to feel empty; inhuman.”
The small but stunning collection of songs is the manifestation of Gordi finding her voice again following a prolonged stint in COVID wards as an emergency department doctor. Seeing the uncertainty of the pandemic first hand has undeniably shaped this release and how Payten hopes it is perceived by those who listen to it. Conceptualised as three pairs of sonic partners, Inhuman is a warm blanket of comfort, a reassurance that although the world can be a mad place, there is solace and peace to be found. A welcome and needed distraction to the noise.
