Destination Management & Visitor Services

For over 100 years Bathurst has had a visitor information centre. Established as a temporary Tourist Bureau in 1922 the visitor centre has grown and adapted over time. Changing hands, changing names and changing roles over 100 years to reach it’s current state. However the goal of the Bathurst Visitor Information has always been to promote visitation to the region and support local businesses and community.

Today the Bathurst Visitor Information Centre operates as the Destination Management Organisation (DMO) for the Bathurst region, responsible for the destination management, destination marketing, destination branding and visitor servicing of the region.  The Visitor Centre supports local through the Tourism Partnership Program,  the operation of the destination website bathurstregion.com. Local events are promoted through the Annual Events Calendar, monthly What’s On Guide.

The Bathurst Visitor Information Centre operates 363 days a year closed on Christmas and Boxing day.

In 2023-2024 the Visitor Centre received:

  • 42,984 walk in visitors
  • Over 5000 calls.
  •  434,865 pageviews on our website.
  • 7,203,757 impressions through our social media channels.

Following industry and community consultation in mid 2024, the 2024-2029 Destination Management plan is being developed. This plan will inform the 2024-2027 Destination Marketing Plan.
