Cultural Immersion in Bx

There’s no shortage of things to do in Bathurst this summer, and there’s no better time to feed your curiosity and discover all that this city has to offer. Start your day on Keppel Street with a visit to the Bathurst Regional Art Gallery with a real treat this summer with the arrival of the Archie 100 Exhibition from 26 January.

Then, stroll across the street and you will find the T.Arts Gallery, an artist-run community cooperative that showcases the extraordinary creative talents of the artists of the Central Tablelands of NSW. Time your day out to the first weekend of any month and you can also take the Bathurst Arts Trail, as many local artists open their galleries to visitors.

In the afternoon, go back to a different era with a visit to the Chifley Home and Education Centre. The beloved home of Ben and Elizabeth Chifley is a window into the simple private life of one of Australia’s most revered Prime Ministers.

To finish off your day, be sure to explore the historic Bathurst Town Square. This is the perfect place to take a leisurely stroll and get a feel for the city’s history and culture. Download the free ‘Bathurst Step Beyond’ app and enrich your walk with an audio tour narrated by local Bathurst resident Grant Denyer. This app will guide you through the town square and provide you with interesting information and anecdotes about the city’s history and landmarks.
