Wattle Flat Heritage Lands

The Wattle Flat Heritage Lands are a great spot to stop off for a bushwalk, bike ride or some time out camping in nature. The Heritage Lands are spread across three areas, the Heritage Lands Northern Reserve, Heritage Lands Southern Reserve and Thomson Street Reserve.

Wattle Flat Heritage Lands Northern Reserve

Buurree Walking Trail

Named after the local Wiradjuri word for wattle. This walking track some fitness required but is completable by most, 1-2 hours return through community managed crown land reserve. Toilet facilities available at the campgrounds. The Buurree Walking Trail is situated in the Wattle Flat Heritage Lands North. This is an area of open woodland bush close to the gold mining township of Wattle Flat. Following yellow triangles from tree to tree the circular track goes uphill to a ridgeline with lovely views towards Sofala and the Turon Valley.

Wattle Flat Heritage Lands Southern Reserve

Gold Miners’ Walking Trail

The Gold Miners Walking Trail circles the southern reserve based around several old gold mine shafts. The 3.7 km trail can be completed by most with some up hill sections. This walk also passes through the solitary mine site which is an excelent spot to stop for a picnic, or to learn about mining history in Wattle Flat.
